You have a story to tell, expertise to share, wisdom to impart. Make sure you also have the editorial help you need to refine, enhance, and polish your work.

Before you work with me or another line editor/copyeditor, you need to be certain that you’ve drafted the final version of your manuscript. The essential question to ask is, Does this piece work from beginning to end? After your first draft, second draft . . . nth draft, if you’re still uncertain about big-picture aspects—like focus, content, structure, tone—you’ll want to collaborate with a developmental editor for feedback and guidance on rewriting your piece to arrive at your final draft.

That’s when I come in. Depending on your concerns and desires for your manuscript, you may request a line edit, copyedit, or both. A copyedit—the polish—is a must for professional publishing. At the very least, copyediting catches errors of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and the like. Copyediting also addresses readability and clarity. A line edit, however, is optional and is about crafting your piece for more compelling and effective writing. Line editing happens before or along with copyediting.
